About
About Shirokuma.
I'm Shirokuma
In 2021 I left my job, fired up to make a living from my own apps — and then it took me quite a while to ship the first one. I've finally released an outliner app, Kosshi (Kosshi took me four years to ship).
I'm also developing a palm-sized mini robot (Sankome) and a tool that lets you build 3D shapes out of blocks (Ohaco). Whether software or hardware, I want to make things I'll keep using day after day.
I go by Shirokuma, which is Japanese for polar bear. My real name is Junichi Sato, which is what shows up on the App Store.
Illustrations and character design are by my wife, the illustrator Naoyoshi. A list of things we've made is on works.
We also make goods together (a picture book, keychains, stickers, and more), sold at the shop. New items and restocks go up on X at SHIROKUMA.

On YouTube, Naoyoshi and I talk about what we're making and how. If you'd like email notifications for new posts, there's a newsletter.
